Kurt Zouma has been slapped with a huge fine over the vile abuse of his cat with West Ham donating two weeks worth of his wages to animal charities as his pets are seized by the RSPCA

Kurt Zouma has been slapped with a £250,000 fine over the vile abuse of his pet cat with West Ham donating two weeks worth of his wages to animal charities.

The France international defender started their Premier League victory over Watford on Tuesday despite investigations into his behaviour.

In addition, is has been reported by the Telegraph that both of Zouma's cats has been seized by the RSPCA.

The former Chelsea defender had issued a grovelling apology over his actions after the video was shared on social media.

An RSPCA spokesperson said: "The two cats are now in RSPCA care. Our priority is and has always been the wellbeing of these cats.

"They’ve been taken for a check-up at a vets and then will remain in our care while the investigation continues."

The update comes after the club to promised to investigate the matter, and deal with it internally.

The centre-back had said in his own statement: "I want to apologise for my actions. There are no excuses for my behaviour, which I sincerely regret.

"I also want to say how deeply sorry I am to anyone who was upset by the video. I would like to assure everyone that our two cats are perfectly fine and healthy.

"They are loved and cherished by our entire family, and this behaviour was an isolated incident that will not happen again."

Insurance and investment company Vitality, the club's official Wellness partner, went one step further by suspending their sponsorship.

In a statement they said: "We were very distressed by the video we have seen of Kurt Zouma. At Vitality, we condemn animal cruelty and violence of any kind.

"We are hugely disappointed by the judgement subsequently shown by the club in response to this incident. We are suspending our sponsorship of West Ham with immediate effect."
