Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has rubbished reports linking him with a January move to Barcelona.

The Portugal international made a flying start to his career at Old Trafford after joining from Sporting Lisbon three years ago, but is struggling to make same the impact he once had on the team this season - scoring just once in his last 14 appearances.

The 27-year-old has received criticism for his body language in recent weeks amid a poor run of form for the club, with former United defender Gary Neville hitting out at Fernandes for "whinging" during matches instead of rolling up his sleeves.

Reports of dressing room unrest at the club are rife and a number of first team players have been linked with moves away amid reports that interim manager Ralf Rangnick is struggling to get to grips with the job.

Portuguese outlet SPORT TV claims United have offered Fernandes to Barcelona this month, but the midfielder hit back on Instagram with a brutal riposte.

"And I thought the new year only started a few days ago, yet we’re already on April 1," he wrote in response to the report.

"Or is this once again just bad journalism?"

United have lost once in six matches since Rangnick took over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November, but haven't produced a single strong performance under the German.

Fernandes' recent form has been particularly troubling, especially after scoring goals for fun last season.

The midfielder netted 28 goals in all competition in the last campaign, but has only managed five goals so far this season.

Fans and pundits alike have questioned whether Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival has had an impact on Fernandes' ability to properly influence matches, particularly as the two never really seemed to gel while playing together for Portugal.

Whether that's indeed the case remains to be seen, but it sounds as if the two are to remain teammates for the time being.
