DENMARK international Christian Eriksen has returned to Inter Milan as he continues his recovery from a cardiac arrest.

The 29-year-old suffered the medical emergency during Denmark's Euro 2020 opener against Finland in June and has not played since.

The Denmark international was reunited with his club team-mates

Releasing a statement on their official website, Inter confirmed: "This morning Christian Eriksen paid a visit to the Suning Training Centre in Appiano Gentile.

"The Danish midfielder met the club directors, the coach, team-mates and all of the staff present.

"Eriksen is doing well and is in excellent physical and mental shape.

"He will now follow the recovery programme put forward by Danish doctors in Copenhagen, who will also co-ordinate the clinical follow-up.

"The Inter medical staff will naturally be kept informed and up to date throughout the process."

ROAD TO RECOVERY

Eriksen caught up with his team-mates and new manager Simone Inzaghi at the training ground and was presented with his No24 jersey.

He has been progressing with his recovery since the incident and was spotted taking a stroll with his family in Copenhagen in July.

It is still unclear if Eriksen will continue his career after being fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), a heart-starting device.

The ex-Tottenham player has reportedly been told he will not be allowed to play in Serie A unless he has the ICD removed.

That verdict is alleged to have come from Franco Braconaro, the director of the FIGC - the Italian FA's technical-scientific committee.

According to Sempreinter, Braconaro said: "Right now Eriksen could not be eligible to play.

"If the player’s ICD is removed because the pathology has been resolved, he can return to Inter."

Former Manchester United defender Daley Blind, however, has continued to play for Ajax after being fitted with an ICD in 2019.

The 31-year-old Dutchman backed Eriksen to carry on his career shortly after he suffered the cardiac arrest, silencing critics.
