James Hanson and Josh Benson on target as Grimsby see off Morecambe

Grimsby recorded their second victory of the week to make it five matches unbeaten in Sky Bet League Two as they edged out struggling Morecambe 2-1.
James Hanson and Josh Benson put Grimsby in control, with Adam Phillips netting a late consolation for the Shrimps at Blundell Park.
Once the action got underway, John O’Sullivan fired an early effort wide, as Cole Stockton promptly forced James McKeown into a reaction save.
At the other end, the in-form Charles Vernam came close with a header, but there was a lack of clear-cut opportunities in the first half.
Within three minutes of the restart, Vernam saw an effort cleared off the line by Jordan Cranston, while Billy Clarke dragged the ball inches wide from range.
Grimsby continued to set the tempo in testing conditions – and they soon had the lead.
Hanson raced on to a superb through ball from Clarke, lifting it over the goalkeeper to notch his seventh goal of the season.
Benson made it 2-0 with a deflected free-kick, before Phillips did likewise at the other end – albeit in a losing cause.
