Port Vale will continue to be without the banned Tom Conlon against Cheltenham.
The midfielder serves the second match of a three-game suspension after receiving a red card in the home defeat to Walsall on December 7.
Rhys Browne and Luke Joyce both returned to the side for the goalless draw with Crawley, following injury and suspension respectively, and are set to keep their places in midfield.
David Worrall and Shaun Brisley are expected to remain sidelined through injury, while youngsters Maxwell Chimenes and Hayden Campbell have departed the club on short-term loan deals.
Forward Reuben Reid will miss out for Cheltenham with a hamstring/groin issue.
Town are also sweating on the fitness of left-back Chris Hussey, who has a hip problem.
Midfielder Conor Thomas is back in training after a calf injury.
But forwards Luke Varney and Tahvon Campbell (both knee) remain on the sidelines.
