First-half goals from Jordan Shipley and Max Biamou sent Coventry into the third round of the FA Cup following a 2-1 second-round replay win at Ipswich.
Shipley (18) and Biamou (33) put the Sky Blues in charge and although Luke Garbutt pulled one back with six minutes remaining they held on to book a meeting with Bristol Rovers or Plymouth.
Ipswich almost took a second-minute lead after a clearance from goalkeeper Tomas Holy found Kayden Jackson with just Marko Marosi to beat but the Slovakian saved the striker’s effort.
The Sky Blues took the lead when Biamou slipped a pass into the path of Shipley, who slid his low shot under the body of Holy.
And they struck again 12 minutes from the break following a flowing move which ended when Shipley’s pass was finished off by Biamou.
The Sky Blues should have made it 3-0 in the 65th minute following a quick break upfield when Jamie Allen’s cross was met by Biamou who shot over the bar.
Ipswich pulled a goal back late on following a cross by Jackson which was headed home by Garbutt.
