AFC Fylde secured a battling point at home to Sutton despite playing the majority of the second half with 10 men.
Jordan Williams was dismissed eight minutes after the break but Jim Bentley’s side held off their fellow National League strugglers to secure a goalless draw.
Fylde came within inches of taking the lead after just six minutes, but Mark Yeates’ strike thundered back off the crossbar.
Sutton grew into the game but the Coasters continued to have the better of the chances with Ryan Croasdale firing just wide after 39 minutes.
After the break, Fylde threatened again with Sutton goalkeeper Nik Tzanev called into action to deny Williams.
Williams thought he had opened the scoring in the 51st minute only to be denied by the offside flag and things got worse for the 26-year-old two minutes later as he was shown a straight red for a tackle on Ben Wyatt.
Aaron Jarvis flashed an effort across goal as Sutton looked to capitalise but Fylde came close again as Danny Rowe flicked a chance just wide.
David Ajiboye tested Sam Hornby but Sutton were unable to make the breakthrough in the closing stages.
