Cristiano Ronaldo's Sister Hits Back At Virgil Van Dijk For Joke About Him Not Being A Rival

Cristiano Ronaldo's sister has fumed at Virgil van Dijk over a joke he made about her brother during an interview on the red carpet ahead of the Ballon d'Or ceremony last night.

Ronaldo, who finished in third place in the rankings, was not present in Paris and instead stayed in Italy to collect the Serie A MVP.

Runner up Van Dijk was asked about his absence and joked about the Juventus star not being a rival. Naturally it caused a stir with Ronaldo fans online and rattled his sister Katia Aveiro, who slammed the Dutchman in a lengthy post on Instagram.

She referenced van Dijk not yet winning the Premier League and made a point of reminding him Ronaldo beat his Netherlands side in the Nations League final.

Roughly translated by Metro, the rant read: "Now, dear Virgil, where you are going, Cristiano Ronaldo has gone and has come a thousand times.

"You see, my dear Virgil, that Cristiano Ronaldo was a tri-champion in the country where you have been playing for years and you still haven't got your hand in the can.

"Cristiano Ronaldo was even the best player and best scorer in the country where you play Virgil. By the way, I was even younger than you.

"Then, dear Virgil, Cristiano Ronaldo went to other places and became the greatest player in the history of a clubezito.

"Real Madrid, tell you something Virgil? Maybe so, because this club, with this Cristiano guy, even beat you in the Champions League final. Of these, Ronaldo already has five, Virgil.

There was more saltiness from the Portuguese superstar's other sister, Elma, who, for the second year running, claims "the mafia" are responsible for Ronaldo not winning a sixth Ballon d'Or.

She wrote the following before deleting it:

Van Dijk, who gave a classy interview after Lionel Messi pipped him to the prize, clarified his joke on Twitter after being called out by Piers Morgan.
