Barrow stayed at the top of the Vanarama National League but had to come from two goals down to take a point against Chorley, who moved off the foot of the table.
The leaders were stunned in the ninth minute as Chorley took the lead through Charles Vernam’s neat finish across goalkeeper Joel Dixon and into the bottom corner.
The visitors extended their lead five minutes later when Marcus Carver turned the ball home from a smart cutback.
Barrow pulled a goal back after 22 minutes when Josh Kay rifled a shot into the top corner from 25 yards and were back on level terms on the half-hour when John Rooney latched on to a through ball and slotted home.
Rooney and Lewis Hardcastle came close to putting Barrow in front before the break, with the former later seeing a deflected free-kick come back off a post .
