Weston makes his point for 10-man Ebbsfleet

Myles Weston scored two late goals as struggling Ebbsfleet rescued an unlikely point against Hartlepool.

Gavan Holohan had put the visitors 2-0 up before half-time and any hopes Ebbsfleet had of a second-half comeback looked to have vanished when Josh Umerah was sent off in stoppage time for a poor tackle.

Nicky Featherstone saw an early effort deflect wide before Holohan was denied by goalkeeper Harry Palmer.

Ben Killip kept out Umerah’s effort, while at the other end Nicke Kabamaba fired wide went sent through on goal by Holohan.

Holohan put Hartlepool ahead after 32 minutes when he scored from the edge of the area and doubled his tally three minutes before half-time by heading in a Luke James cross.

Holohan, Gus Mafuta and Featherstone all went close to adding a third after the break but Weston pulled one back with 18 minutes left and then snatched a point with nine minutes remaining when his free-kick found the back of the net.
