Hartlepool through to FA Cup second round

Hartlepool’s second marathon trip in four days was rewarded as they advanced to the second round of the FA Cup with a 4-1 win over Yeovil.
After Saturday’s initial tie was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, Pools ensured they did not have another wasted journey as they eased to an impressive win.
Yeovil took the lead inside three minutes through Lawson D’Ath’s first goal of the season, sweeping the ball home from 12 yards.
The Glovers’ lead lasted just three minutes however as Hartlepool striker Luke James quickly equalised, scoring via the post with an angled shot.
Former Bristol Rovers striker James then set up Gavan Holohan, who struck the ball into the back of the net from the edge of the area to make it 2-1.
Nicke Kabamba missed two clear chances but made amends when he headed in from close range to make it 3-1 after the break.
Yeovil then had defender Luke Wilkinson sent off for his second yellow card in the 70th minute.
And in the 86th, sub Gime Toure netted from the penalty spot to secure Hartlepool’s place in the second round.
They will travel to either Cambridge United or Exeter City, who will contest a replay next week.
