Chelsea Assistant Manager Jody Morris Laughs Off Jose Mourinho's Criticism Of Their Defence

Chelsea assistant manager Jody Morris has laughed off the claim from Jose Mourinho that Chelsea will struggle defensively in big games this season.

Mourinho said that he was 'worried' about Chelsea at the start of the season and that he still is.

Morris took to Twitter to laugh off the claims from the former Chelsea manager.

Morris also posted a video to Instagram pretending to cry with the caption of 'Jose' and the laughing emoji underneath.

Some fans think that their assistant manager's reaction is brilliant.

Although some also believe it could be tempting fate considering we're only in November and lots could change before the end of the season.

Chelsea have made a promising start to the season under Frank Lampard and their young team currently sit in third.

But Mourinho discussed the fears that he has for his former side as the season progresses while a pundit on Sky Sports.

Mourinho said on Sky Sports: "In the first weekend I was worried, and I'm still worried, with the big matches.

"I think fantastic work, the kids that are coming to the team, they're fitting amazingly well with the top-class players like Willian, Kante... I think really, really great work by Frank.

"But they lost twice against United.

"They lost against Liverpool at home."

The 56-year-old also believes that their open nature means they can be weak defensively.

"They conceded four goals against Ajax and I'm very, very curious to see Chelsea the next match at the Etihad.

"I'm curious to see if they've found that great empathy between the good football that they play and the pragmatism that the top teams they must have, especially to play against the top teams."

Lampard acknowledged the good form his side are in after their 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

But the former England midfielder refused to be drawn into the discussion of a potential title charge.

"To say (we are title contenders) would be a bit naive because we are not even a third of the way through the season," said Lampard per The Express.

"If we can keep replicating the form, keep replicating the results, then we can certainly close the gap and I think that is the first step."

Chelsea currently sit eight points behind league leaders Liverpool and have a comfortable nine point gap over fifth placed Sheffield United.
