Stefan Brown will hope he has done enough to earn a starting spot when National League South strugglers Oxford City take on Solihull Moors in the FA Cup first round proper.
Brown was back on the bench for the Hoops’ game at Tonbridge and came on to score two quick-fire goals in a 4-4 draw.
First-choice striker Elliot Benyon is cup-tied, further increasing Brown’s chances of being involved from the start.
City parted company with manager Mark Jones two days after the 2-1 FA Cup win against Margate in the last round, so director of football Justin Merritt and Andy Ballard take charge for the tie.
Solihull are seeking permission for loanees Josh Neufville, Adi Yussuf and midweek match-winner Jake Beesley to feature.
Neufville is on loan from Luton, Yussuf from Blackpool and Beesley from Salford.
Kyle Storer was booked for the fifth time this season at Hartlepool in midweek but his suspension must be served in the National League.
Tim Flowers’ side made it four wins from their last five league matches with a 1-0 victory at Victoria Park and now sit sixth in the table.
