Late Oldham comeback delights Dino Maamria

Dino Maamria was delighted with his Oldham side after they snatched a dramatic point at home to Northampton Town.
The high-flying visitors were odds-on to record a fourth successive win, but Oldham, who are now unbeaten in three, scored twice in the last five minutes of the game.
Northampton had taken a sixth-minute lead through Matty Warburton before Andy Williams doubled their lead 10 minute from full-time.
But the hosts hit back, firstly through Scott Wilson, who slotted the ball home in the 85th minute.
Then Jonny Smith levelled it four minutes later when his cross looped over Northampton keeper David Cornell and into the back of the net.
Oldham boss Maamria said: “We deserved the point and we finished the game really strongly against a good Northampton side.
“Everyone here can see the type of team we are trying to build, one with character, personality and resilience .
“This team, a few weeks ago, would have lost by three or four, but now we are showing fight.
“We changed it a little bit towards the end and the substitute were instrumental in that.
“Scott Wilson did what he was supposed to, running the channels and getting his goal.
“Mohamed Maouche has had a bit of stick recently, but he was excellent, and so was young Zac Emmerson.
“All three of them gave us more energy and options going forward.
“Our fitness is getting better and we showed spirit.
“The opposition was used to coming here and getting the three points, but not anymore because we fight and we scrap.
“I hope the fans saw that today.”
Northampton manager Keith Curle said: “If you look at the overall picture of the game, there were elements that pleased me.
“I thought we started the game very well, the game plan worked, we found spaces and we found holes and scored a goal.
“We should have had another goal on the stroke of half-time, but then in the second-half I thought the basics were not in place.
“We didn’t land on second balls, we didn’t put the ball into good areas and we weren’t brave enough to go and move them around with the ball.
“We wanted to go and score the second goal and we got it.
“The players know what it is like to win a game 2-0 because we have done that three times in the last week.
“But Oldham threw caution to the wind and put five or six people in offensive areas, and we allowed them to put hopeful balls forward.”
