Further misery for Partick Thistle
Posted Sunday, October 27, 2019 by PA
Partick Thistle remain bottom of the Ladbrokes Championship table after a 3-1 defeat against Arbroath at Firhill.
The Jags could have taken the lead after 20 minutes but Tommy Robson’s effort was well blocked by Ricky Little.
Thomas O’Brien and Colin Hamilton went close for Arbroath before the visitors opened the scoring in the 37th minute.
Bobby Linn broke in behind the Thistle defence and cut the ball back for Luke Donnelly to fire home.
Arbroath goalkeeper Derek Gaston was on his toes to deny Dario Zanatta an equaliser after 51 minutes but the hosts did not have to wait long to level the scores.
Little handled in the box on the hour mark and Stuart Bannigan stepped up to score from the spot.
The Smokies won a penalty of their own moments later and Michael McKenna made no mistake from 12 yards.
Colin Hamilton then sealed the victory for Arbroath after 77 minutes following some neat work by Omar Kader.
