Caretaker bosses enjoy Fylde win over Boreham Wood

Managerless Fylde snapped a four-game losing streak in the National League following a 2-0 win at Boreham Wood.

The Coasters, with John Hills and Brett Ormerod still in caretaker charge following the dismissal of Dave Challinor, made a flying start with Wood keeper Nathan Ashmore denying Matthew Kosylo inside three minutes.

But the visitors were rewarded for their bright beginning when Andy Taylor, signed on a short-term deal after being released by Oldham in the summer, unleashed a stunning strike into the top corner via the underside of the crossbar in the 19th minute.

A last-ditch tackle from Alex Whitmore prevented Kabongo Tshimanga from levelling 10 minutes before half-time with James Montgomery saving his follow-up effort.

Kieran Murtagh fired a free-kick at Montgomery after the break as Wood searched for an equaliser before Ashmore made a superb save to thwart Nick Haughton.

However, substitute Danny Bradley wrapped up the points for Fylde in the 90th minute, firing home after his cross was partially cleared, as they moved out of the bottom four.
