Nicke Kabamba scored twice as Antony Sweeney made it three wins out of three in caretaker charge of Hartlepool with a 2-0 win over Barnet.
Pools opened the scoring in the sixth minute through Kabamba’s low finish after good work from Luke James.
Kabamba doubled Hartlepool’s advantage after 27 minutes with another well-taken effort at the end of a neat team build-up – his fourth goal in his last three league matches.
The home side were well on top and defender Fraser Kerr cracked a 30-yard drive off the crossbar before the break.
Mauro Vilhete volleyed wide for Barnet early in the second half, while former Hartlepool goalkeeper Scott Loach twice denied Kabamba a hat-trick before the hour.
Barnet were reduced to 10 men after 64 minutes when Jack Taylor was shown a second yellow card for a poor challenge on Peter Kioso.
Hartlepool goalkeeper Ben Killip kept out a low strike from Cheye Alexander, while home substitute Gime Toure was denied a superb third by Loach.
