Exeter ease to emphatic derby win

Exeter earned bragging rights in the Devon derby with an emphatic 4-0 win against their county rivals Plymouth.
The Grecians went into the game having lost at Cambridge and Scunthorpe, while Argyle were high in confidence after beating Carlisle and Leyton Orient.
But Ryan Lowe’s Pilgrims were no match for Matt Taylor’s Grecians, who never looked back after Nicky Law had given them a first-half lead from the penalty spot, after Lee Martin had been fouled by Josh Grant in the 42nd minute.
Tom Parkes then headed in a Randell Williams free-kick four minutes after half-time to double Exeter’s lead and the Grecians went on to win at a canter, with Williams adding a delightful third after 67 minutes.
Craig Woodman, Ryan Bowman and Law all combined well before Williams was set free and he produced a delightful dinked finish over advancing goalkeeper Alex Palmer from 20 yards.
Argyle rarely threatened in the second half, with an Antoni Sarcevic shot in the first half the closest they came to scoring, and Exeter were full value for their fourth goal which came after 83 minutes as Law tucked in a rebound from a Jake Taylor shot that struck the upright.
