MANCHESTER UNITED have finally found a replacement for Ander Herrera in Borussia Monchengladbach's Denis Zakaria, according to reports.

The Red Devils have failed to replace the Spaniard after leaving Old Trafford for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in the summer.

Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won't hold back in spending cash this January with his side way off the pace in the race for a top four finish.

And reports in Germany suggest Zakaria is right at the top of his shortlist.

The 22-year-old joined the Bundesliga side two years ago for £8.7million and his since gone on to gain a reputation as one of the league's top prospects.

His asking price has rocketed to around £43m but it won't deter the Red Devils from joining fellow European clubs in vying for his signature.

Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are all thought to be paying close attention to his availability.

He already has 24 caps for Switzerland after beginning his career in his country of birth with Servette.

Solskjaer is also in the market for a striker to relieve the pressure on the shoulders of Marcus Rashford.

Bayern Munich's January wantaway Thomas Muller remains a possibility while fellow veteran Mario Mandzukic is also a target.
