REAL MADRID are reportedly lining-up a huge offer for Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante after missing out on Paul Pogba this summer.
The Galacticos failed to land the midfielder despite a long pursuit of the Frenchman throughout the last window.
Now El Desmarque claim they are plotting a mega player-plus-cash deal for the Manchester United star’s international team-mate.
The Spanish news outlet state Madrid have made the 28-year-old, under contract until 2023, their new No.1 target.
And they are willing to offer Colombian playmaker James Rodriguez part of the package to try and tempt Chelsea into selling.
Today’s report describes Kante as Madrid manager Zidane’s “dream signing” and that he aims to pair him up alongside Casemiro in the middle of the park.
Chelsea are believed to value the ex-Leicester man at £138m.
But Madrid are adamant that Rodriguez, 28, is worth around £58m and are willing to offer him as a bargaining tool.
The South American has failed to find top form ever since his arrival at the Bernabeu in 2014 and has spent the past two seasons on-loan in Germany at Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, last month Spanish publication Defensa Central claimed “Los Blancos had compiled a detailed dossier” and that they already had a verbal agreement in place with Stamford Bridge chiefs to sign him.
When quizzed on his future back in August, Kante said: “It’s rewarding to be wanted by big clubs, when coaches want you in their project, to accomplish great things with their club, it’s nice.
“But I feel good at a club like Chelsea. I’m planning for the next seasons at Chelsea.
“I’m happy with my choices and to be at Chelsea.”
