Chelsea's Christian Pulisic not concerned with his £58m price tag

Pulisic's slow start

Christian Pulisic joined up with the Chelsea squad this past summer.

The winger agreed to sign for the Blues back in January of 2019 but he was then loaned back to Borussia Dortmund for the second half of the 2018/19 campaign.

But since his arrival at Stamford Bridge, Pulisic has struggled to hold down a regular starting place.

The American was given a runout in Chelsea's opening four Premier League games this season, three of which came as a starter.

However, since then Pulisic has managed to garner just 10 minutes of PL football, which came against Southampton on Sunday.

Pulisic on his price tag

Chelsea are said to have paid £58m for Pulisic's services.

Even in today's heavily inflated transfer market that is still a fair chunk of change.

And for that sort of money, you would probably assume the player would be starting every week and performing at a high level.

Pulisic has since spoken out about his price tag and how he tries to block out the criticism that has come following his slow start to life in England.

When speaking about criticism of his slow start, Pulisic stated:

"You can't completely ignore it. I don't live under a rock. I hear things, I see things, but I do my best to block it out.

" I'm just working hard for myself. The outside opinions don't matter as much to me as to what's in the team, myself and the people who care about me. I'm just going to keep working and do my best and not worry about it." As quoted by the Evening Standard.

Then on his reported £58m price tag, Pulisic had this to say:

"This number [£58m] doesn't mean anything to me. Obviously, I go out and try to give my best every time I'm on the pitch. I'm not sure what the price tag means to you, but I just have to keep trying to perform at my best for myself and for the team." As quoted by the Evening Standard.
