HAMZA CHOUDHURY faced a sickening torrent of racial abuse after his tackle left Mo Salah fearing an injury-lay-off.

Leicester City confirmed they have now reported the racist abuse to police.

Twitter was flooded with foul-mouthed slurs towards Leicester enforcer Choudhury, whose challenge infuriated Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp after Liverpool's 2-1 win.

Choudhury was labelled a "n****r" and "f*****g monkey" in shocking posts that put more pressure on social media chiefs to clamp down on racism.

Racists harangued Manchester United stars Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba earlier this season, as well as Chelsea pair Tammy Abraham and Kury Zouma.

And former England Under-21 midfielder Choudhury was called a "P**i", "dirty Asian black n****r"" and "filthy animal" in the latest disgusting example of online racist abuse.

Chilling abuse included messages like: "I don't know how they let some animal son of a b***h play in he PL. f*** u b***h."

A Leicester spokesman said: “We are appalled by these comments, which the club has reported to the police and to the social media platform on which they were made.

“Discriminatory behaviour has no place in football or in society and we will seek the strongest possible course of action to be taken against those responsible.”

'DANGEROUS AS HELL'

The rampant racism deflected legitimate debate over Choudhury's crunching tackles - after his Carabao Cup challenge put Newcastle winger Matt Ritchie out for two months in August.

And Klopp had no doubts Choudhury deserved more than red for his stoppage-time foul on Reds' striker Salah.

After leaders Liverpool made it eight straight Premier League wins, Klopp told Sky Sports: "It's a challenge I really don't understand. It's dangerous as hell.

"He has to calm down in situations like this. It's not the first time. He is a super player, top development, but these kind of challenges - no!"

Klopp's men went on to nick a 95th minute victory through James Milner's controversial penalty.

But Klopp added: "I cannot get over the Choudhury yellow card.

"He should know better. He maybe was unlucky with Ritchie, but it was him and he has to calm down.

"You cannot only go for the man, and then he gets only a yellow card.

"You see Mo lying in the dressing room and you think, okay…"

But last night Choudhury was the victim too - with many of the racist insults he received too sick to print.
