Managerless Southend prepare to face Fleetwood
Posted Thursday, September 12, 2019 by PA
Struggling Southend are still without a manager as they prepare to host fourth-placed Fleetwood at Roots Hall.
The Shrimpers have lost all six League One matches this season so far, failing to gain a single point.
Australian defensive midfielder Mark Milligan is doubtful ahead of the match, having returned from international duty with a minor leg injury.
Nineteen-year-old midfielder Isaac Hutchinson should be available despite receiving a red card during a Leasing.com Trophy clash with Leyton Orient, as the sanction does not cross over into EFL matches.
Joey Barton’s Fleetwood are inhabiting the other end of the table and will have defender Harry Souttar, who represented Scotland during the international weekend, back in the squad.
Twenty-one-year old Irish centre back Jimmy Dunne made his debut for the Fishermen against Oxford and is expected to feature again.
Strikers Jack Sowerby and Conor McAleny may be fit enough to return to action at Roots Hall.
Both incurred injuries against Wycombe but have since returned to training.
