Goalkeeping dilemma for Forest Green boss Cooper
Posted Thursday, September 12, 2019 by PA
Forest Green manager Mark Cooper will have a decision to make over who starts in goal for Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two match at home to Colchester.
Jojo Wollacott’s red card against Newport handed Lewis Thomas a chance at Cambridge last weekend and the deputy goalkeeper saved a penalty and kept a clean sheet in the 1-0 away win. Wollacott is now available again after his suspension, however.
Celtic loanee Jack Aitchison netted off the bench on his debut at Abbey Stadium and he will hope to start while Ebou Adams should be available after international duty with Gambia.
Manager Cooper will remain without George Williams and Matt Mills, but Liam Shephard and Aaron Collins will aim to be included in the squad on Saturday.
Colchester are expected to welcome back Luke Gambin and Brandon Comley into their starting line-up at Forest Green.
The duo missed the goalless draw at home to Walsall last weekend while away on international duty with Malta and Montserrat respectively.
Freddie Hinds and Cohen Bramall were also absent, but featured for the under-23s in the week and are pushing to play some part on Saturday.
Harry Pell remains on the treatment table, though, with an Achilles problem which continues his injury woes.
