Cambridge boss Colin Calderwood hopes to have both Jabo Ibehre and Dan Jones available for Tuesday’s home game with Scunthorpe.
Ibehre missed out on the U’s win over Colchester on Saturday due to concussion, while Jones was also sidelined after complaining of pain in his foot.
Ibehre, who has struggled with a number of recent concussions, is set to return to the starting line-up provided he passes the required protocols.
Meanwhile, full-back Jones is also set to regain his place in the side after an x-ray on his injury came back clear.
Scunthorpe claimed their first point of the season against Crawley on Saturday and boss Paul Hurst is hoping for more.
Hurst has some welcome news ahead of the trip to Cambridge, with James Perch set to return to the side after suspension.
Meanwhile Jordan Clarke has been making good progress after a quad injury and could also come into contention.
Ryan Colclough is definitely ruled out with a groin strain and Hurst revealed he had a few more minor issues to contend with.
