Hope to start from the bench as Carlisle host Mansfield

Hallam Hope will be restricted to the bench for Carlisle’s Sky Bet League Two match with Mansfield despite a successful return to action in midweek.
Last season’s top goalscorer played the final 14 minutes of their surprise 3-0 Carabao Cup win at Barnsley, but boss Steven Pressley insists he will not rush Hope’s return from hamstring and back injuries sustained in pre-season.
Midfielder Canice Carroll will miss his second game of a three-match suspension following his red card during last weekend’s 3-2 defeat at Swindon.
Striker Olufela Olomola is set to be restored in the starting line-up after his substitute appearance at Oakwell on Tuesday.
Mansfield youngster Alistair Smith could be in line to make his league debut for the club at Brunton Park.
Smith earned praise for his performance from boss John Dempster after the Stags’ Carabao Cup penalty shoot-out defeat to Morecambe, where he converted his spot-kick, in just his second appearance for the club.
The 20-year-old may get his chance as Jacob Mellis is suspended, while Willem Tomlinson (knee) and Dion Donohue (groin) played just 45 minutes on their return from their respective injuries.
Defender Matt Preston is also banned, while Mansfield are still without striker Craig Davies (ankle) and goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik (knee).
