Under-strength Bolton beaten at Wycombe

A clinical second-half display earned Wycombe a 2-0 victory over crisis club Bolton in Sky Bet League One.
On-loan QPR frontman Paul Smyth and substitute Fred Onyedinma finished smartly after the break to pile the misery on a youthful Wanderers side.
Wages have gone unpaid at Bolton for five months and just five senior players made the journey south for a game only confirmed as going ahead on Monday.
Phil Parkinson’s men were happy to sit off in a forgettable first half, punctuated intermittently by a couple of probing runs from Smyth.
Adebayo Akinfenwa came closest to opening the scoring when he glanced Smyth’s cross wide midway through the opening period.
Bolton’s rearguard was broken by a terrific finish just before the hour from Smyth, who rounded Remi Matthews to tuck into the net.
Onyedinma added a deserved second 10 minutes from time, heading home from Akinfenwa’s knock down.
With Bolton visibly tiring, Wycombe will feel they should have had more and Alex Pattison, Matt Bloomfield and Akinfenwa all spurned excellent opportunities to make the scoreline emphatic.
