Dover do a job on Chesterfield thanks to Alfie Pavey’s late brace

Two late Alfie Pavey headers saw Dover rally from behind to beat Chesterfield 2-1 at the Proact Stadium on the first day of the Vanarama National League season.
Home goalkeeper Shwan Jalal was alert in the fifth minute when Michael Woods rifled Inih Effiong’s lay-off towards goal.
Dover’s Kevin Lokko then looped a header over the bar, with Jalal making another good save to keep out Bobby-Joe Taylor.
The Spireites responded well, with Scott Boden dodging his marker to shoot just wide.
Effiong smashed one over when play resumed and Chesterfield bared their teeth when Will Evans curled wide before the hour.
David Buchanan tried unsuccessfully to pick out Boden at the back post before, moments later, watching as the latter controlled well and netted.
The lead would not last long, however, as Pavey levelled in the 77th minute by heading in Josh Passley’s cross.
The Proact faithful fell silent when, five minutes from time, Pavey nodded home another to clinch all three points for Dover.
