Akinola makes Yeovil pay the penalty

Simeon Akinola’s second-half penalty helped Barnet make a winning start to the new Vanarama National League season as Yeovil suffered fresh pain following relegation.
Scott Loach showed no signs of having switched off over the summer as he beat away Remeao Hutton’s sighter in the third minute of a 1-0 Bees win at the Hive.
The Barnet keeper would soon deny Rhys Murphy before, at the other end, Stuart Nelson kept Harry Taylor’s headed effort out with his fingertips.
After the half hour Akinola went close with a header from Cheye Alexander’s cross.
Akinola, looking very dangerous following the restart, managed to notch after the hour mark after being brought down in the box and getting up to convert the penalty.
Loach soon had to protect Barnet’s lead with a smart stop against Murphy’s free-kick.
