Shankland scores four as Dundee United hammer Inverness

Lawrence Shankland scored all four goals as Dundee United triumphed 4-1 over Inverness in their first game of the Ladbrokes Championship season.
Shankland was the subject of much speculation ahead of his move from Ayr on a free transfer last month and was linked with several clubs in the English Football League.
The striker, who scored 24 league goals for Ayr last season, has made an instant impact at Tannadice and his impressive haul in the home victory over Inverness adds to the two goals he has already scored in the Betfred Cup.
The Terrors beat Inverness home and away in last season’s Premiership play-off semi-finals and Shankland took only seven minutes to head his new club in front.
Tom Walsh’s close-range effort pulled the visitors level after 29 minutes, but another Shankland header restored the lead two minutes later.
The 23-year-old made it 3-1 with a third headed effort eight minutes into the second half, before rounding off a magnificent display with a left-footed strike four minutes from time.
