AFC Wimbledon could hand League One debuts to a clutch of new signings when they face Rotherham but may also blood several youngsters.
Full-back Luke O’Neill is in line for his competitive bow after making the summer switch from Gillingham, while Watford loan forward Michael Folivi could also feature.
Boss Wally Downes has handed some developing talents opportunities to shine in pre-season, though, and could continue that approach into the league campaign.
Paul Osew has made the switch from forward to full-back, while centre back Paul Kalambayi could force his way into the first XI reckoning.
Club record signing Freddie Ladapo is primed for his league debut for Rotherham.
The 26-year-old signed from Plymouth in a £500,000 deal in June, and should lead the forward line at Kingsmeadow.
Left-back Trevor Clarke is an immediate injury doubt despite only just completing his move from Shamrock Rovers, with the 21-year-old picking up an unspecified injury in a training match.
Danish goalkeeper Daniel Iversen is on hand for a debut too, having made a season-long loan switch from Leicester.
