Millwall boss Neil Harris must choose between new goalkeepers Frank Fielding and Bartosz Bialkowski for the opening-day visit of Preston.
Fielding has figured throughout pre-season after joining from Bristol City, while Harris this week secured the services of Bialkowski on loan from Ipswich.
Defender Jason McCarthy could make his debut following his switch from Wycombe, while fellow summer signings Matt Smith, Connor Mahoney and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson should also be involved.
Alex Pearce will captain the Lions following Steve Morison’s departure on loan to Shrewsbury.
German defender Patrick Bauer makes a swift return to south London in a Preston shirt after joining from Millwall’s neighbours Charlton over the summer.
Veteran striker David Nugent, who has rejoined Preston after being released by Derby, is short of match fitness following a knee injury but could be on the bench.
Midfielder Ryan Ledson will miss the first two matches of the season through a suspension carried over from last term.
Winger Billy Bodin, back from an ACL injury, missed Preston’s last couple of friendlies as a precaution and might not be risked.
