Fitness worries for Oldham boss Wild

Oldham boss Pete Wild has fitness concerns over captain Peter Clarke and his centre-back partner George Edmundson ahead of the last match of the season against Northampton.

Clarke was carried off on a stretcher – and wearing a neck brace – after colliding with Latics goalkeeper Zeus De La Paz just before half-time in Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat at Newport and could miss out.

Edmundson, who was named in the EFL League Two team of the season, sustained a calf injury in that game and was replaced 10 minutes after the break, making him doubtful for Saturday’s match.

The fixture is a reverse of last season’s League One finale at Sixfields where a 2-2 draw saw Oldham go down against the already-relegated Cobblers due to Rochdale’s narrow win against Charlton.

In a similar theme, Keith Curle’s visitors saw Yeovil relegated from the Football League following a 2-2 draw last weekend.

Midfielder Dean Bowditch and on-loan Brighton defender George Cox both returned to the starting line-up last time out after dropping to the bench for the Easter Monday defeat at Bury and could retain their spots in the XI.

Shaun McWilliams came off the bench for the last 30 minutes against Yeovil after missing the previous four games with a hamstring problem and is in contention again.

Northampton are two places and four points below their opponents in 15th, also with only professional pride left to play for.
