Swansea City vs Derby County - Leroy Fer misses out as Swansea host Derby
Posted Tuesday, April 30, 2019 by PA
Swansea are without Leroy Fer as Derby seek to take a giant step towards securing a Sky Bet Championship play-off place.
Fer will miss Swansea’s final two games of the season and may not play for the club again as he is out of contract this summer.
The injury-plagued Dutch midfielder suffered a knee strain during the Easter Monday win at Ipswich, his fourth setback of the season following a ruptured Achilles, groin and hamstring problems.
Martin Olsson (Achilles) is the only other absentee as Swansea, whose play-off hopes ended on Saturday after a 2-2 draw with Hull, conclude their home fixtures.
Victory for Derby would give them a three-point advantage over seventh-placed Middlesbrough on the final day of the season this weekend, and on the brink of a play-off finish given their superior goal difference.
Defender Fikayo Tomori is a doubt after the defender was forced off early on in the 2-0 victory at Bristol City on Saturday suffering from a dead leg.
Craig Bryson (ankle) and Ashley Cole (groin) remain out after missing the Ashton Gate win.
Duane Holmes (thigh) is back in contention and Andy King has returned to training after two months out with an ankle problem, raising the possibility that the on-loan Leicester midfielder could be involved in the play-offs should Derby make it.
