A COUPLE have given their son the middle name Farkelife - in honour of Norwich City's matchday chant about boss Daniel Farke.

Mega supporters Shun and Maiko Tomii welcomed their baby Kiraku into the world on April 23.

That was just five days before the Canaries secured promotion back to the Premier League, after beating Blackburn 2-1.

And with the birth coming so close to Saturday's promotion party at Carrow Road, the couple wanted to share their love for the team through their first-born son.

So they gave him the middle name Farkelife, after the team's anthem based on German manager Daniel Farke, 42.

Mr Tomii, 40, has been a massive City fan since he moved to Norwich from Japan 25 years ago.

He and his wife, who is 38, run the Shiki sushi restaurant in Tombland, central Norwich.

Mr Tomii said: "In Japan we don't have middle names.

"Being in Norwich for 25 years, I thought for my son's name I would put a middle name.

"And we were thinking about it, me and the wife, the two of us are big Norwich fans, so we have a season ticket at Carrow Road.

"This year it has been fantastic to watch, and be a part of the culture, the football club culture.

"And I thought it would be a good idea for something related to Norwich for my son's middle name."

He went on: "On Twitter I asked my followers what kind of middle name would be nice and people started throwing some opinions for my son's middle name and nearly all were related to player names.

"At first I thought a player's name might be good.

"But I thought this year, at Norwich we have played as a team, not just as individual people.

"Everybody was important in this promotion and everybody was behind it, fans, club and manager. Everybody. I think that this togetherness, I felt really good about it.

"Then I thought it might be a good idea to have something unique, not just one person's name."

Eventually Maiko came up with Farkelife - and even attended the ground hours before going into labour for the match against Stoke.

They have now officially registered the name.

Mr Tomii added: "It symbolised the whole culture of Norwich at the moment.

"We welcome so many Germans, and local youngsters, it's unity and I like that."
