Scott McDonald’s wonderful winner helped lift Partick Thistle off the bottom of the Ladbrokes Championship following a 2-1 home victory over Alloa.
Alloa, who went into the game having won four in a row, took the lead in the 13th minute when Jack Aitchison, on loan from Celtic, struck from the edge of the box after the home side partially cleared a corner.
But Thistle levelled two minutes into the second half through Joe Cardle, the half-time substitute unleashing a shot into the corner from 20 yards before fellow substitute Gary Harkins was foiled by Neil Parry moments later.
But McDonald popped up with the winner in the 66th minute, curling a free-kick into the net via the underside of the bar for his sixth goal in 11 games for the club as the Jags extended their unbeaten run to four matches.
