Forfar move second with win over Stenhousemuir

Forfar secured a first away win since January and took second place in the Ladbrokes League One table following their 3-0 victory at Stenhousemuir.
Dale Hilson found the bottom corner with his left foot midway through the first half and Adam Eckersley promptly doubled the Loons’ lead with a finish from outside the box.
When David Marsh fouled Hilson in the penalty area in the 60th minute, John Baird converted the resulting spot-kick, ensuring Forfar leapfrogged Raith ahead of Rovers’ trip to face champions Arbroath on Sunday. Stenny’s afternoon was further soured when Andy Munro was sent off for using foul language late on.
With two matches remaining, Montrose look well-placed to take part in the promotion play-offs after opening a five-point gap on fifth place with a 2-1 home triumph against Airdrie, who can no longer break into the top four.
Ross Campbell stuck away a penalty four minutes before the break in Angus and Terry Masson steered in Lewis Milne’s 67th-minute assist to double the Gable Endies’ lead.
In second-half stoppage time, Leighton McIntosh pulled one back for Airdrie, who then lost Scott Robertson to a red card.
Dumbarton did enough to avoid the prospect of a relegation play-off campaign by beating out-of-form East Fife 3-0 at The Rock.
The Sons extended their unbeaten run to four games as Craig Barr notched from a corner in the 20th minute, with Dom Thomas pouncing just before half-time and Calum Gallagher confirming the outcome with his angled drive not long after the hour mark.
Dumbarton are now seven points clear of ninth-placed Brechin, who remain level on points with basement boys Stenny after losing 3-0 at Stranraer.
The Blues clinched a third straight win as Mark Lamont, St Johnstone loanee Ali McCann – celebrating a first senior goal – and Cameron Elliott all scored at Stair Park.
