Dundee United hold up Ross County’s celebrations

Dundee United’s comfortable 2-0 victory over Inverness kept leaders Ross County’s promotion party on hold until at least next week.
Anything less than a win for Robbie Neilson’s men would have seen the Dingwall side return to the Ladbrokes Premiership following their 3-1 win at Ayr on Friday, though with a goal difference better to the tune of 18, that outcome will still likely come.
The Terrors broke the deadlock in the 27th minute when Pavol Safranko unleashed a left-footed strike into the back of Cameron Mackay’s net to score for the third game in a row.
The visitors almost doubled their lead four minutes later when Paul Watson’s header hit the bar.
Dundee United got their second four minutes after the break when Paul McMullan tucked the ball beyond Mackay before Inverness were reduced to 10 men when Brad McKay was given his second yellow card in added time.
