Salford stay on tail of leaders with win at Boreham Wood

Salford substitute Matt Green netted an 88th-minute winner to sink Boreham Wood 3-2 at Meadow Park and keep his side in contention for automatic promotion to the Football League.
The late rally had seemed unnecessary when Graham Alexander’s men grabbed two early goals. Carl Piergianni advanced from the back and headed in from a corner and Liam Hogan doubled the advantage midway through the first half with another header, this time from an Ibou Touray cross.
But the hosts surged back, cutting the deficit quickly through Ralston Gabriel from the penalty spot and levelling in the second half through Kieran Murtagh.
Late on, however, against the run of play, Green stabbed in to secure the three points and leave his side two behind National League leaders Leyton Orient.
