Arbroath promoted to Scottish Championship

Arbroath secured promotion to the Scottish Championship following a 1-1 draw at Brechin in the Angus derby.

The Red Lichties required just a point to secure the League One title and they did just that at Glebe Park.

They got off to a fine start, taking the lead in the fifth minute when Ryan Wallace headed in his 11th goal of the season.

But Brechin, sitting in the relegation play-off, equalised in the 22nd minute through Michael Miller to secure a draw which leaves City four points off third-bottom.

Joao Pereira Vitoria scored a late winner as struggling Stranraer produced a fine comeback to seal a crucial 3-2 win at second-placed Raith.

Rovers were cruising after 34 minutes, moving 2-0 ahead courtesy of goals from David McKay and Jamie Barjonas.

However, the visitors struck twice in three minutes just before half-time to stun Raith.

Kyle Turner halved the deficit and Innes Cameron’s header levelled the scores before Vitoria struck at the death to move further clear of Brechin.

Paul Watson scored twice to lift Montrose above East Fife and into the final play-off spot with a 2-0 victory.

Watson struck in the 69th minute and then again late on to give Montrose a two-point cushion over East Fife, who are now without a win in six matches.

Forfar remain third following a goalless draw against Dumbarton.
