Fleetwood battle for win at Burton

Ashley Nadesan’s first goal for Fleetwood secured a third straight away win for Joey Barton’s side as they put an end to Burton’s six-match unbeaten run with a 1-0 victory at the Pirelli Stadium.

The forward, who returned from a productive spell at Carlisle in January, timed his run to the back post to perfection to finish off Paddy Madden’s cross after Town had weathered a spell of early second-half pressure from the home side.

In a lacklustre game, typical of two sides ensconced in mid-table, there was a distinct lack of clear chances as defences dominated and a lack of quality epitomised the game.

Albion went closest in the first half with Liam Boyce and Lucas Akins both failing to seriously trouble Alex Cairns.

Nadesan broke the deadlock and Fleetwood almost doubled their advantage soon afterwards when right-back Lewie Coyle curled a low effort wide of the far post from the edge of the box, before substitute Ash Hunter rattled the crossbar in stoppage time.

Victory for Town pushed them five points clear of their hosts and keeps alive hopes of a late run for the League One play-offs.
