Wrexham stay top after thrilling finish

Cole Stockton’s goal three minutes into added time helped Wrexham pinch a dramatic 1-1 draw at Gateshead.
In the first period, Steven Rigg had scored his third goal in two games for the Tynesiders. He seized on Greg Olley’s through pass, cleverly flicked the ball neatly over Christian Dibble in the visitors’ goal and headed into an empty net.
Wrexham themselves came into the match of the back of four wins in a row. Paul Rutherford tried to help extend that statistic in the second half, but chipped just over from a good opportunity.
Stockton at least preserved the away side’s unbeaten sequence with a late conversion on the rebound after first hitting the post.
