Courtney Duffus’ first goal for Yeovil gave the Glovers a much needed 1-0 victory over Cambridge to bring a six-game Sky Bet League Two losing run to an end.
The lively Alex Dobre forced the opener as he tricked his way into the box before seeing his low shot saved straight into the path of Duffus, who had a simple tap in after 25 minutes.
Yeovil almost scored two goals in as many minutes when Rhys Browne was picked out in space and played it into Alex Fisher, but the striker’s first time effort went just wide.
The hosts rode their luck in the second half as Cambridge twice went close to scoring.
First Browne defended superbly to stop Jabo Ibehre stretching to poke a George Maris cross in at the far post, then Alex Jones was picked out unmarked by David Amoo but somehow side-footed it wide from two yards.
United piled the pressure on towards the end of the game as they pushed for an equaliser but Yeovil defended resolutely for the win.
