Comeback win lifts Shrewsbury out of drop zone

Shrewsbury climbed out of the League One relegation zone thanks to a first win in 10 games as they triumphed 2-1 at Peterborough.
Sam Ricketts’ men received a helping hand from a former Shrews player – Ivan Toney – as they came from behind to collect only the second win of their current boss’ reign and just a second away success of the campaign.
They fell behind when Jason Naismith headed his first Posh goal from Marcus Maddison’s free-kick from the right in the 10th minute.
But the match changed dramatically in the 27th minute as Posh frontman Toney was sent off for deliberately handling a goalbound Omar Beckles effort.
Shrews skipper Ollie Norburn tucked away the resulting penalty and the visitors completed a quick turnaround in the 36th minute as Tyrese Campbell struck with a terrific 20-yard finish from Shaun Whalley’s short free-kick.
Shrewsbury’s task became harder when Norburn was dismissed in the 62nd minute after collecting a second caution in quick succession, but they were also closest to another goal as former Posh midfielder Anthony Grant hit a post.
