Chelsea will turn to Gianfranco Zola if manager Maurizio Sarri is sacked.
Sportmediaset says the Blues are considering axing Maurizio Sarri - and giving assistant Zola the job on a caretaker basis for the rest of the season.
Former Napoli boss Sarri is yet to find out if he will be fired.
Chelsea were thrashed 6-0 at Manchester City on Sunday and their chances of Champions League football look slim with the team in poor form - and their rivals coming on strong.
Zola could steady the ship until the end of the season before a big name appointment is made.
Chelsea have history when it comes to putting former players in charge in a caretaker capacity.
Roberto Di Matteo took over on an interim basis seven years ago and famously guided the club to a historic European Cup triumph in 2012.
