Scunthorpe have set high standards, says boss Stuart McCall

Stuart McCall says Scunthorpe must maintain their high standards following a 2-0 victory over Accrington.
Superb first-half goals from Kyle Wootton and Kevin van Veen sealed a sixth win in eight outings for the Iron.
Despite the victory, McCall was not entirely pleased with the performance.
“I’ve said before that we need to find different ways to win games and we’ve done that today,” he said.
“They were two brilliant bits of skill and finishes from Kyle and Kevin for the goals.
“We could have been better in possession at times but we’ll analyse it and look to be better next week.
“I think the standards now are so high.
“We played really well but a month ago we’d have been doing cartwheels at this result.
“We’re delighted with this but we’ve set standards and we need to be better and we can be better. All in all, it was a great three points.
“We’re pleased that we’re moving in the right way and going up the table.”
Wootton opened the scoring in the 13th minute when he controlled the ball and lashed a volley beyond the reach of goalkeeper Jonny Maxted.
Home substitute Van Veen then scored a memorable goal – his first since returning to Glanford Park last month.
The Dutchman curled a superb effort into the bottom-right corner to double the advantage for McCall’s side.
Stanley toiled in the second half but could not apply the finishing touch, with a host of chances missed as they made it five games without finding the net.
Stanley boss John Coleman said: “To go six games without a goal, it’s frustrating.
“We’ll never admit defeat but we have to stand up and be counted. We have to keep working on it. We can’t just roll over and die.
“We’ve got this block at the moment in front of goal and the longer it goes on, the harder it’s going to get.
“The gilt-edged chances that we’ve had – probably four or five of them missed the target and that is frustrating.
“But we have to keep working on it and keep the desire going.
“The fans were great again and they must understand that I’m hurting too. It’s not a case of us and them. We can see the effort from the players is there.
“We had the lion’s share of the ball in the second half and created numerous chances.
“We have to try and be positive. Training this week will be attacking-based.
“This is a freak run and freak runs can change.”
