MOHAMED SALAH has deleted his Instagram and Twitter accounts. But why has the Liverpool star opted to take such drastic action?
Salah has stunned his fans across the globe today, with the Liverpool star shutting down his Instagram and Twitter accounts.
The Egypt international’s decision has sparked theories aplenty among supporters, particularly given how the 26-year-old is in the spotlight.
Salah has been accused of diving in recent times, with some calling for the Liverpool star to be banned for going to ground too easily.
Others, though, have varying views. Express Sport brings you three reasons why Salah may have opted to take himself off social media.
Man City title battle
Theory: Salah has deleted Instagram account to focus on helping Liverpool beat Manchester City to the title.
Could it be true? It certainly could be.
Liverpool are facing a major fight to win the prize, currently sitting four points clear of Manchester City at the summit.
Focus is now vital and, as a result, social media could represent a distraction.
New Year’s resolution
Theory: Salah has deleted his social media accounts simply because it’s the start of a new year.
Could it be true? There are certainly grounds to suggest the forward has quit social media because of a new year resolution.
His final Tweet was: "2019 Resolution: Time to get in touch, for real."
But why wait until January 23? Has it really taken Salah 23 days to get round to deleting it? Not even footballers are that busy…

Egyptian FA dispute
Theory: Salah has quit social media because of his row with the Egyptian FA.
Could it be true? Again, it is possible. But, again, it doesn’t seem to make sense.
The Egyptian FA were fuming at the forward for featuring prominently on the outside of the national team’s plane - sponsored by ‘WE’- last year despite having connections to rival telecommunications firm Vodafone.
But what good is deleting Twitter and Instagram going to do? You would expect the FA still have his phone number. Unless he’s deleted that too?
