00:00 UPDATE: Milan star issues Higuain farewell

AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has seemingly bid farewell to Chelsea target Gonzalo Higuain.

The Argentine striker is Chelsea's January priority as they seek reinforcements up top but the Blues have had to deal with both Juventus and Milan to get a deal done.

That's with Higuain having spent the first-half of the campaign on loan at Milan from Juve, though Donnarumma has suggested a deal is close to being completed.

"If Higuaín made this choice, there must be reasons, but he is a friend and I wish him all the best," he told Sky in Italy.

21:40 UPDATE: Tottenham transfer latest

Tottenham are still interested in signing Josh Maja from Sunderland.

But a deal right now seems a long way off, with Spurs looking likely to stay away from transfers this month.

Instead, a move for Maja - also wanted at Crystal Palace - could be on the cards at the end of the season.

That's because the player will then be available on a free transfer when his contract expires.

"The team truly played for him and he did really well under Sarri.

"So the feeling is that with him - and if Sarri manages to get Chelsea to play for him - he could do really well."

18:25 UPDATE: Barcelona target exiled

PSG have been told they must restore Adrien Rabiot to first-team training by a National Professional Footballers' Union legal director.

Barcelona target Rabiot has been with the PSG reserves since confirming he will not renew his contract past the summer.

But UNFP's legal director Stephane Burchkalter is not happy with PSG's management of the player.

"In the case of Rabiot, who has declined to extend his contract which ends at the end of the season, it is not necessary to even consider if this will be a temporary situation," Burchkalter told Goal. "No exceptions have been requested, the forming of a second group is now allowed and he should be automatically returned [to the first team]."

Eden Hazard has reaffirmed he wanted to leave Chelsea last summer for Real Madrid - but could now decide to stick with the Blues.

"I have won everything in England, apart from the Community Shield, but that doesn't mean that I'm leaving," he told France Football.

"I have always said that I wanted to explore something different after England. But there are also things that might make me stay.

"After the World Cup, I wanted to leave, but in the end I stayed at Chelsea and I'm playing one of best seasons so far. So I don't think that I need a different challenge. But that doesn't mean that I will become better."

"I know him very well from our time together at Chelsea, and with England, and I also know what he can bring to the group and the influence he will have.

"Ashley is in good shape, which doesn't surprise me because he's an excellent professional, and he will compete for a place in the side like every other player here."

"Manchester United has been my life since the age of five and playing for the club I've always supported is all I've ever wanted to do," he said.

"I'm still young and I'm learning all the time from the manager, his coaching staff and from the world-class players in the squad. I can't wait to continue my progress at this great club."

Liverpool have inadvertently helped frustrate Manchester United's future transfer plans - because the wife of a Red Devils target supports the Reds.

Belgian defender Bjorn Engels plays for Stade Reims and is keen to move to the Premier League, with Arsenal his dream club.

And he told L'Equipe a switch to Old Trafford has been ruled out already.

"I've been there a couple of times in the past, maybe next time is the right one. Arsenal? It would be a dream," he said. "She's [my wife] from Liverpool and all her family is a fan of the Reds. When Everton were interested in me, she said to me laughing: Everton is ok, but never Man United!"
