Arbroath extended their lead at the top of Ladbrokes League One to 13 points with a 4-1 victory at bottom side Stenhousemuir.
Bobby Linn opened the scoring after just four minutes and the Smokies doubled their advantage moments later through Ryan Wallace.
Mark McGuigan pulled a goal back for the hosts with five minutes remaining in the first half before Wallace restored Arbroath’s two-goal lead in the 52nd minute.
Linn then added his second of the game just before the hour mark to seal another valuable victory for Dick Campbell’s side.
Second-placed Raith lost ground despite coming from behind to draw 1-1 away at Airdrieonians.
Leighton McIntosh’s ninth-minute penalty put the hosts ahead but Euan Murray levelled for Rovers with 17 minutes remaining.
Liam Watt scored twice as East Fife beat Montrose 2-0 to remain third in the table.
The former Brechin midfielder broke the deadlock in the 25th minute before adding his second just before half-time.
John Baird’s strike three minutes from time earned Forfar a 2-1 victory over Stranraer at Station Park.
Innes Cameron’s 25th-minute goal for Stranraer cancelled out Dale Hilson’s eighth-minute opener for Forfar before Baird won it late on.
Callum Tapping’s goal in added time saw Brechin secure a 1-0 victory over fellow strugglers Dumbarton, who had Michael Paton sent off on the hour mark.
