Solihull moved up to third in the National League after a 2-1 victory over Gateshead at the International Stadium.
The Moors took the lead in the 22nd minute through Liam Daly’s header, the defender connecting with a corner from Darren Carter.
Kyle Storer then sent a fine volley against a Gateshead post, before Carter made it 2-0 seven minutes into the second half as he rifled a shot into the top corner.
The hosts pulled a goal back four minutes later via Scott Boden’s penalty, awarded for a handball by Daly, but Steve Watson’s eighth-placed side were unable to rescue themselves from a third successive defeat.
Swapping places with Wrexham, who lost at Bromley on Tuesday, Tim Flowers’ Solihull are now a point behind second-placed Salford and three behind leaders Leyton Orient.
